Like all our tours, the itinerary will be customized to your interests. A sublime hiking route takes you through the lakes of the north to Mount Legnone, then across Stelvia National Park to Valtellina wine country, before crossing back to the lakes and spending a day or two in the Dolomites. There are enough destinations for a two or three weeks of hiking, the landscapes always enhanced by the unique patchwork of wine and food.
All our tours are individually customized to your interests. This day to day program was designed for previous guests of Italy Charme. While we loved guiding this private tour, it is purely an example of what can be possible and we will tailor your day to day program to your interests.
Day 1: Arrival in Milan [dinner]
Welcome to Italy! Upon your arrival in Milan Malpensa airport, you will meet an English speaking assistant waiting for welcome you and transfer by private car to your hotel in Como area. Accommodation at Hotel and free time to rest or explore the city center on your own. A welcome dinner tonight will be served in a typical restaurant within walking distance from your hotel. Overnight in Como.
Day 2: Full Day Private tour along the Lake of Como [breakfast]
Breakfast at hotel. Morning meeting with a private minivan and an English speaking guide to enjoy a Full Day private tour to discover the Lake Como area, a jewel-like oasis of tranquility and a magical combination of lush Mediterranean Foliage & snowy alpine peaks. Its captivating landscape and villa gardens inspired many 19th century Romantic poets and artists, and continues to draw visitors from around the world. You will reach the charming village of Bellagio, also called by locals “la pearla del lago” (the pearl of the lake), as it is considered the most beautiful town in Europe. Stroll through its narrow cobbled streets and enjoy the breathtaking views of the impeccable homes and glorious villas that surround the lake. From Bellagio you will reach by boat the small village of Menaggio for a walking tour before to come back in Como. Return to your hotel and balance of the day at disposal. Dinner and evening at leisure and overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Full Day Hiking on the Mount Legnone [breakfast]
Breakfast at hotel. Early Morning departure with an expert local guide for an excursion on the Mount Legnone. With its 2.610 metres, Monte Legnone is the highest peak of the Orobie Lecchesi and you can easily recognize it by its pyramid-like shape. It is situated at the end of Lake Como dividing the waters between Valtellina, Valvarrone and Valsassina. It is one of the most visited peaks in the area of Lecco, offering a spectacular view on the Central and Occidental Alpine Chain and on the Pre-Alps of Lecco. Monte Legnone is the main peak of the Northern part of Como Lake. This excursion wtakes about 6 hrs and it is enough hard, so it is suitable for well-trained hikers. In the afternoon return to your hotel in Como and balance of the day at disposal to rest. Dinner and evening at leisure and overnight at your hotel.
Day 4: Day at leisure in Como [breakfast, dinner]
Breakfast at hotel. All the day will be at your disposal for individual visits or dedicated to relax in the wonderful atmosphere of the Lake of Como. Dinner tonight will be served in a local restaurant within walking distance from the hotel and Overnight in Como.
Day 5: Full Day excursion Valtellina and Wine tasting [breakfast, wine tasting]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning departure by private minivan and with an English speaking guide for a Full Day tour dedicated to visit the Valtellina area, one of Italy’s most famous wine regions, and one of the least explored. This region is also home to the spa town of Bormio and on the footstep of the stunning Stelvia National Park (the largest protected nature reserve in Europe) with its glaciers. The wine country of Valtellina offers the wine lover looking for an unusual wine region off the beaten tracks a selection of small, boutique wine estates, stunning alpine scenery and superb gastronomy. During the tour you will stop in a local winery to visit the cellar and taste the local wine. In the afternoon transfer back to your hotel and balance of the day at disposal. Dinner at leisure and Overnight in Como.
Day 6: Day tour in Lugano (Switzerland) [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning departure by private van for a Full Day tour dedicated to visit Switzerland, very close to Como. You will stop in Lugano. It lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano, surrounded by numerous mountains and offer exclusive museums, mountains, and lake. The two closest mountains to Lugano, Monte San Salvatore and Monte Brè, give you an outstanding panorama of the town, Lake Lugano and the alpine scenery. From Monte Brè there is a walk down to the village of Brè, which has preserved its typical Ticino village centre, and enhanced it with works of art. Afternoon return to your hotel in Como. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Lefay Resort on the Lake of Garda area with a stop in Verona [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning check out and departure by private minivan to the Lake of Garda Area. Before to arrive at your hotel, stop in Verona city center where you will meet an English speaking guide for a walk about this small town, known over the world as the city of Romeo and Juliet. The main Piazza delle Erbe, is a good place to start a visit of the historical city center. This is located in the heart of the historic center and it is surrounded by beautiful medieval buildings and towers. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant and balance of the day at disposal for personal visits and shopping. In the afternoon proceed towards your Lefay Resort on the Lake of Garda area. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 8: Full Day Hiking on the Dolomites [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Early morning departure for an hard day tour on the Dolomites. Part of the Alps but with a unique geology and landscape, the Dolomite mountains are best known for their spectacular spiky outlines, the startling colours of their rocks at sunset and the bucolic beauty of their flowers. This original and varied landscape in north eastern Italy has now been given UNESCO World Natural Heritage status. From Val Gardena it is only a short walk through forests and meadows to the Dolomites, which some regard as the most beautiful mountains on earth. There are countless hiking options comprising all difficulty ranges, that you can decide to follow during your day tour. In the afternoon transfer back at your hotel in the Lake of Garda area. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 9: Day at leisure on the Lake of Garda [breakfast]
Breakfast at hotel. All the day will be at your disposal for individual visits or dedicated to relax in thewonderful atmosphere of the Lake of Garda. We would suggest you to explore the Lake or relax on the Spa. Dinner at leisure and Overnight on the Lake of Garda.
Day 10: Full Day tour on the Lake of Garda [breakfast]
Breakfast at hotel. Morning meeting with a driver and departure by private car for a Day tour dedicated to visit the Lake of Garda area, the Italy’s biggest Lake. You will have the chance to stop ad admire the city center of Desenzano, a pretty town near the end of a long promontory; Limone sul Garda or Riva del Garda, a pleasant tourist destination. Dinner at leisure and Overnight on the Lake of Garda.
Day 11: Trekking on Mt Altissimo [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Early morning departure by private car for an hard Half Trekking Day on the Mt Altissimo, in the Baldo range, the Austrian army drew back to safer positions in preparation of battle with the Italian forces. There are two options to reach the Mount: from the town of Nago, drive to Malga Zures, where the Austro-Hungarian tunnels can be visited; or Drive up to Prati di Nago, continue on foot to the peak of Mount Altissimo where it is possible to view the field defences of the Italian army. Lunch on your own and in the late afternoon return to your hotel on the Lake of garda area. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 12: Transfer to Piedmonte region [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning check out and departure by private minivan to Cuneo, in the Piedmont region. Accommodation at Corte di Lequio or similar hotel and time at leisure to relax or dedicated to a first discovery of the city center. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 13: Half Day visit Cuneo [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning meeting with a driver and an English speaking guide for an Half Day tour dedicated to visit the city of Cuneo. The Province of Cuneo extends to the southwestern tip of Piedmont, and borders France to the west and Liguria to the south. The Alps, with the Monviso massif and the hills of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, covers most of the territory. The beautiful landscapes offer great variety: valleys with luxuriant vegetation, hills with patchworks of vineyards broken up only by castles, and wildlife reserves of unique beauty. Balance of the day at your disposal for individual activites or optional tours. Dinner will be at leisure and overnight at hotel in Cuneo.
Day 14: Full Day excursion Langhe with wine tasting [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Morning departure by private minivan for a Day tour dedicated to driver about Langhe area, one of the most famous area of Italy and extend along the right bank of the Tanaro river. The climate is mainly dry and contributes to the high concentration of sugars in the grapes, with a prestigious production quality. The vineyards to nebbiolo for Barolo are grown in different soils, depending on soil composition, can be distinguished: in Land Helvetian, in Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba and Castiglione Faletto, which gives more robust wines, full, rich in tannin, very long-lived and highly prestigious; and Land Tortoriano, mainly in La Morra, which wines rich in alcohol and more fragrant, velvety and elegant with ripe faster and less longevity. Return at your hotel. Balance of the day at disposal. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 15: Truffle hunts in Alba [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Today you will enjoy a special and unique experience: the truffle hunts with the dogs. You will take part in the hunt and learn the secrets to finding Alba’s world renown white and black truffles. Black truffles are hunted between the second half of May until the end of February. White truffles are hunted between September 20 until the end of January. After the hunt you will enjoy a special lunch of course with the truffles. Afternoon at disposal for personal activities. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 16: Day at leisure in Cuneo [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. All the day will be at your leisure for personal activities and individual tours. Lunch and Dinner on your own and overnight in Cuneo.
Day 17: Cooking Lesson and Lunch [breakfast, lunch]
Breakfast in hotel. Today you will be transferred to a local restaurant to enjoy a Cooking class with a local chef, followed by a Lunch. You will be able to make a four-course meal (starter, first course, second course and dessert) under the expert guidance of an English speaking chef. The course will be followed by dinner including the dishes you have prepared, and accompanied by a good Tuscan wine in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Make it back to your hotel feeling very good about your accomplishments, and the wonderful foods you have just prepared and enjoyed. Return at your hotel and balance of the day at disposal. Dinner at leisure and overnight.
Day 18: Departure [breakfast]
Breakfast in hotel. Check out and private transfer to the airport on time to embark on your return flight.
